This event booklet created for the 2024 New Zealander of the Year awards shows how thinking outside the square – or rectangle – can have
    dynamic results. Printed in CMYK on our HP Indigo and then saddle stapled, its staggered text edge effect was created by misaligning sheets of uniform size, making category pages pop. Sovereign Offset 240gsm and 100gsm for the cover and body pages gives it the gravitas it truly deserves.

Thinking outside the rectangle

Foiling is a reflective finish that creates striking contrast against surrounding substrate. It’s available in everything from metallics to flat colours to fun 3D holographic effects, and can be used on anything from business cards to high-end packaging. A delicate process that uses specialised
    equipment, foiling takes skill to perfect. But as you might expect from us, perfection is just another day at the office.

Print your name on everythinc

Sorry, we mean print floor. Thanks to the capabilities of our mighty Heidelberg Platen press we can cut all kinds of shapes out of paper and card using a process called die-cutting. You can have die-cut boxes, circles, tags, fancy corners, peel strips for labels and anything else beyond a single straight-cut line.
 
    Die-cutting is fascinating to watch. A cutting-forme, which is a wooden board with thin blades protruding from the surface (like a cookie-cutter), is loaded into the Heidelberg along with the preprinted or prepared stock. The press hits the blades onto the paper or card, cutting or punching out the desired shape, and voila, you have a cool die-cut product.
     
    You can choose from our range of cutting-formes or we can have something unique made for you. Best idea? At the start of a project, let’s chat about how we can give it oomph. No dancing required.

Forget everything you learnt from colouring books. We want you to colour over those lines. By 3mm.
 
    Bleed or printers’ bleed is basically a failsafe that guarantees you don’t accidentally end up with any lily-white naked bits at the edge of your print job if paper shifts fractionally in the printer, etc.
    
    So, as the name suggests, the bleed technique is about extending your design or image 3mm beyond your intended size. For plenty of nice coverage before the guillotine trims it. Just like having your duvet slightly wider than your bed means less exposure and a comfier night’s sleep.
     
    Who creates bleed? Both bleed and trim marks are sorted by your designer as part of the design file set-up process, ready for your preferred printing establishment, us. But if you’re not sure, sing out. Here to help.

What’s Bleed and why do we need it?

We’re into making businesses really stand out with engaging print
        techniques. We recently produced this wee beauty – a multi-page brochure
        with each page cut at a different height. The agency who designed this
        brochure reflected the tall, narrow nature of the garden sculptures
        through the format of the pages, using multiple heights to create
        something just that little bit different… and that little bit cooler!

We love a bit of merch

Well, as everyone says at this time of year “What a year it’s been”. However we feel we can truthfully say it – Printers Inc grew and we’re now offering all types of merchandise and apparel; the Indigo ran hot all year, as did the the other presses (and a few of our amazing team!); we helped our clients achieve brilliance; and topped everything off by winning gold in the Best Design Awards for our awesome new website. We’re closing up midday Thursday 22nd Dec, and will be back on board 11th January 2023. Thanks to all of our awesome clients and friends – have a fantastic and safe break… we’ve all earned it!

We’re super-stoked that our new website has won gold in the 2022 NZ Best Design Awards. Actually we're blown away, given the size and calibre of the competition it's pretty humbling. Huge congratulations and thanks to our friends at Friday Creative for their hard work, creative genius, and actually listening to us when we said ‘go for it’. Congrats to all other Best Award winners too – well done everyone!

We’re the BEST!

Nothing quite like a chunky business card for making a great first impression. We created these wee beauties for Benchmark Homes using ColorPlan 270gsm Smoke stock that was duplexed to achieve double the thickness. Then we hit them with a black foil for a super-sharp logomark (all other details were printed on the other side in simple black ink). Duplexing various stocks also allows for different colours on the front and backs of cards – talk to us about how we can create something special for you!

We’re super-stoked to be supporting the Chisnallwood Intermediate School A-Rugby Team by printing and supplying their full sports kit in the school’s branding. Our key account manager Angela’s son is captain of the team, and is leading them through the 2022 AIMS Game Tournament – a week long event in September that brings together over 10,000 kids playing in 28 different codes from all over New Zealand… go team!

Just quietly, we’re a bit chuffed that our new website has made it to 
        the finals of the 2022 NZ Best Design Awards, which cover all manner of design 
        disciplines. Just to give you an idea of the scale of the awards, when it was 
        announced by email that the finalists had been selected, the sheer volume of 
        visitors to the awards website crashed it. Thanks Best Design Awards, and thanks

Our website is BEST!

We’ve finally done it. On top of producing awesome print solutions for 
    everybody everywhere, we’ve also updated our website to reflect who we truly are 
    and what we really do in our little corner of the printing world. We worked with 
    the awesome team at Friday Creative (fridaycreative.nz) and they have created a 
    site unlike any other in our industry. Have a good romp around - we’d love to know what you think  :)

New Website

Zodiac Bar is one of Christchurch’s newest and coolest bars on The Terrace,
     serving fusion food with a cocktail menu of epic proportions. It’s themed around 
     the Chinese Zodiac, with an eclectic mix of Chinese artefacts and artworks. Their 
     design agency created an awesome set of menus, and we printed these on the mighty 
     Indigo using gloss laminated Sirio Pearl Aurum metallic gold stock to match the 
     brand – bling bling baby!

Sometimes simple is best. Clean and clear, the Bookkeeper stationery set 
    is printed in one colour (black) on a beautifully smooth 400gsm Splendorgel stock. 
    Again the Indigo press was perfect for this project given its smooth solid-colour
     printing, and cost-effective short print runs. Nothing like an easy job when it’s 
     so busy…

We’re so stoked to support Lincoln Rugby Club’s Under 10’s rugby team. 
    Here’s where our apparel printing comes alive with the creation of hoodies and 
    training shirts for our aspiring young boys and girls. And not to boast or anything, 
    but Dale’s (Printers Inc Sales Manager) young lads recently both received player 
    of the day… on the same day no less. The apples don't fall far from the tree…

We’re so proud to have been involved with this project. The Britten Stables 
    are a Christchurch landmark, and their history and heritage have been captured in a 
    beautiful case-bound hard-cover book that we had the honour of printing. Shout-out

Clothing and Merch

One of our favourite machines here at Printers Inc is our treasured Heidelberg Platen press. This mighty workhorse was used recently to create some bespoke business cards for a local pharmacy here in Christchurch. A combination of heavy-weight Cranes Letra Letter stock and a sky-blue Pantone colour create one of the most beautiful business cards the pharmaceutical world has ever seen… in our opinion anyway :)

Given they produce some of the most elegant bespoke furniture in the country, Southern Creations’ catalogue needed to convey the same level of quality and attention to detail. We printed their new 106-page catalogue on Splendorgel, a super-smooth premium uncoated stock. A nifty embossed logo on the front cover gives the catalogue an extra little bit of awesomeness.

Dan the man – or Dan the Indigo operator man would be more accurate – is commander-in-chief of the mighty Indigo press. A miracle maker of difficult jobs, Dan has worked at Printers Inc for six years, and comes from a background of traditional offset printing. He loves (hates) nothing more than making a good grey screen or solid – and always achieves the perfect result without too many bad words.

70 years old and still going strong. The mighty German Heidelberg Platen press holds a special place in all of our hearts here at Printers Inc. In its day it was an absolute machine (literally), nowadays it’s a complete legend. Regularly used for die-cutting, creasing, perfing, kiss-cut & letterpress printing, it’s still going strong and likely to outlive all of us!
